Canola Requests

We are now offering
public screening for mutations in Brassica napus using
TILLING:
- Our population is derived from the doubled haploid line
DH12075.
- We screen at least 1152 nutant lines, or screen until we
have identified a putative null allele or several missense
alleles.
- We usually screen amplicons of 1500 - 1800 base pairs, but
this depends on the length of genomic sequence avaialble to
design primers
- We obtain, on average, more than 20 mutations per gene
(~45% missense, 5% nonsense, and 50% silent)
- The cost for TILLING of one region (1500 base pairs) is
$5000 CAD.
- In order to make a request we require either genomic or
cDNA sequence from a Brassica
napus variety (preferably DH12075). If
genomic sequence is provided, TILLING is generally faster
because primer design is easier.
